Litigation Legal Assistant
Shackelford, McKinley & Norton, LLP is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Litigation Legal Assistant to join our Dallas team. As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting 3 trial attorneys with all aspects of the commercial litigation process. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in law and administrative skills to contribute to our fast-paced litigation practice.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain case files, including indexing discovery and filing documents
- Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings and maintaining attorney calendars
- Basic drafting of shell and pre-formatted documents for use in finalizing pleadings, discovery, motions, orders, and related litigation matters
- Coordinate and schedule attorney meetings, maintain functional calendar
- Efficiently manage high-volume discovery document production
- Manage deadlines and ensure timely filing of court documents, to include ensuring all deadlines are captured on attorney calendars
- Word processing and proofreading of legal correspondence and filings
Skills/Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in fast-paced litigation environment, strong preference for experience in commercial litigation
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong knowledge of legal principles and procedures, including rules of procedure
- Ability to conduct basic legal research using resources like Westlaw
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, E-File, PACER, and other litigation-related software
