Mary Johanna McCurley has devoted her legal career to tackling the challenges of families in transition. Her clients will tell you that, whether the issues are dividing complex business interests or finding the right mental health professional to help a child through a divorce, Mary Jo knows how to navigate those choppy waters. She has received numerous awards for her work and enjoys acting as a mentor for other women entering the profession.
Mary Jo McCurley is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and was one of the editors of the Family Law Practice Manual for nearly a decade. She is frequent lecturer on family law issues, having presented papers before the State Bar of Texas as well as other professional organizations and law schools. Mary Jo has served as Chair of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. As a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, she has served as Vice President and been a coordinator of the Academy’s continuing legal education program.
Mary Jo has been named to “Texas Super Lawyer” list, a Thomson Reuters service, for family law every year from 2003 to 2018. She also has been named to the “Best Lawyers in Dallas” list, published by D Magazine, in family law from 2009-2013 and 2015-2017. Helping other women achieve their goals has always been important to Mary Jo.
Mary Jo is a certified life coach with a special interest in women’s health and wellness and co-authored the book A Happy Healthy You: A Woman’s Guide to Happiness, Health & Harmony. She is a co-founder of the charitable organization, 511 Home Group and is an active member of and volunteer for the University Park United Methodist Church.
