Kara’s transactions practice focuses on the affordable housing tax credit industry, working with developers, non-profits and housing agencies. Her practice also includes financing, M&A work, entity creation and conversion of existing entities. She assists clients in debt and equity finance agreements, shareholder agreements, non-compete and non-disclosures and employment agreements.
Kara has assisted clients in all aspects of business transactions including: helping clients secure financing, conducting legal, operational, and financial due diligence, ensuring compliance with government regulations, negotiating and drafting asset or stock purchase agreements, drafting applicable ancillary agreements, and assisting with closings and post-closing obligations.
Kara graduated from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. During law school, she served as the managing editor for SMU International Law Review Association’s Year in Review, for which she was recognized by the American Bar Association as a 2018 Student Editorial Award recipient. Ms. Hargrove also participated in the Emory Civil Rights and Liberties Moot Court Competition. Upon graduating from SMU, Ms. Hargrove received a Pro Bono Honor Roll recognition.
