Shackelford, McKinley & Norton partner David Norton, who heads the firm’s aviation practice, has been selected to serve on Law360’s Transportation Editorial Advisory Board for 2025.
David is one of 10 attorneys, the only one from Texas, selected to the publication’s Transportation Board. Members will provide feedback on Law360’s editorial coverage of aviation, rail, automotive and trucking law matters and offer expert insights designed to help shape ongoing industry-focused coverage.
Board Certified in Aviation Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, David has an internationally recognized practice encompassing a broad range of business aviation industry regulatory, transactional, tax, commercial dispute resolution and general risk management issues. He is a frequent speaker at business aviation conferences and is involved in many business aviation industry-related committees and groups, He is a past chair of the Aviation Section of the State Bar of Texas.
David was a regular commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force from 1984 to 1993, serving primarily as a KC-10A pilot and commander. He is a veteran of Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Southern Watch and Operation Restore Hope. He currently holds many civil pilot certificates and is an airline transport pilot (multi-engine land) with a DC-10 type rating, and a commercial pilot (single-engine land). He also maintains certification as a certified flight instructor, instrument and multi-engine, and as an advanced ground and instrument instructor.
