All pilots know, or should know, about the DWI/alcohol related offense reporting requirements of FAR 61.15(e). Simply put, if a pilot’s driver’s license is suspended or revoked for an alcohol related offense as defined in the FAR, he or she must report that action to the FAA. A first DWI will get the attention of the folks in Oklahoma City, but typically does not result in any repercussions. However, a pilot who reports a second DWI to the FAA can expect some problems.
