Active in the community, he is a member of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas and the Committee for Qualified Judiciary. He currently serves on the executive Board of SMU Dedman School of Law, the national Board for Canine Companions for Independence, and the Board of Lone Star Language Academy. He is a past chair of Salesmanship Club Youth & Family Centers and SCF Charitable Properties. He and his wife, Renita, are members of Park Cities Baptist Church and Royal Oaks Country Club.
Steve Boyd joined the firm in September of 2017 after retiring as EVP and Chief Legal Officer of Baylor Scott & White (“BSW”), where he served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for ten (10) years. In addition to managing the day-to-day legal needs of BSW, he was directly involved in several significant transactions and challenges. For example, he led the legal team in the merger of Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White in 2013 and was instrumental in the success of many other transactions.
Prior to joining BSW, Steve served as managing partner of the Texas offices of Hunton & Williams and for twenty-six (26) years represented regulated industries, such as electric and gas, railroads, and health care in federal and state courts and administrative venues as well as government inquiries. He is also a recognized expert in corporate governance. Steve is actively engaged in mediations and is known for his high success/settlement rate in which he attributes to his intense, thorough preparation efforts.
