Michael Thicksten concentrates his practice in the areas of municipal finance, real estate and corporate law. Michael’s practice includes all areas of real estate development and finance, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, complex financings, leasing and construction of office, industrial, retail and residential development projects.
Michael’s real estate experience in both the private and public sector focuses primarily in commercial transactions. He currently practices in the areas of commercial real estate development and affordable housing financing representing both for-profit and non-profit developers and public housing agencies. Michael has represented clients in the development of multifamily housing, mixed-use complexes, residential subdivisions and commercial office and retail. Michael concentrates his practice in mixed-finance transactions which include tax credits, FHA financing and other public funding.
While attending the University of Miami School of Law, Michael worked in the legal department of a prominent real estate developer where he advised on complex commercial matters involving corporate governance, securities, and tax issues. Prior to law school, Michael gained valuable business experience as an asset manager at a consulting firm where he was responsible for ensuring state and federal regulatory compliance of a large portfolio of assets.
