Kristen is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association Family Law Section, and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. She is also a member of the Junior League of Dallas where she has served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), PAL volunteer at the Genesis Women’s Shelter, and is currently a singer with the Music Therapy Singers.
Kristen Zerega’s practice focuses primarily on family law, civil litigation, and real estate litigation. Kristen frequently handles divorces, child custody disputes, modifications of possession and support, and enforcement actions. She represents clients in a variety of jurisdictions within the State of Texas including the counties of Dallas, Collin, Rockwall, Denton, and Tarrant.
Kristen frequently negotiates the valuations of estates and property settlements in her divorce cases. She also has experience litigating issues of family violence including obtaining temporary restraining orders and protective orders for the best interest of the child. Kristen has also handled terminations and step-parent as well as grand-parent adoptions. She has represented clients in cases with the Attorney General and child support hearings. Additionally, she has advocated for children as an attorney ad litem for the SMU Child Advocacy Clinic.
Kristen also devotes a significant portion of her practice to commercial litigation. She focuses on landlord-tenant issues, evictions, contract disputes, and personal guarantees. She represents various business entities and small businesses, contractors and subcontractors, owners and developers, and individuals in these matters. Furthermore, she has experience with estate planning administration and probate litigation cases.
In her spare time, Kristen enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends especially her Cavapoo named Louie. She loves being active, taking a variety of workout classes, and competing in half marathons, triathlons and obstacle course runs.
