Daniel Pellegrin is an associate in Shackelford, Bowen, McKinley & Norton, LLP’s Houston office. Daniel handles all aspects of dispute resolution, with an emphasis on commercial litigation, insurance disputes, and insurance coverage analysis. Prior to joining the firm, Daniel worked at a litigation boutique where he represented numerous national insurance carriers in defense of contractual, extra-contractual and bad faith allegations, within complex damage and coverage matters.
Daniel is experienced in all phases of litigation and pre-suit investigation in both federal and state courts. He has particular expertise in federal procedure and removal jurisdiction having removed dozens of matters from state court to federal court, and assisted clients in defeating efforts to remand. Daniel also represents clients in a broad range of pre-litigation matters, such as insurance appraisals, coverage opinions and examinations under oath. He has taken numerous depositions and prepared management, corporate representative and fact witnesses for depositions, as well as numerous engineers, economists, accountants, and insurance experts.
Maintaining an emphasis on quality written argument, Daniel has obtained summary judgment in multiple coverage matters in various jurisdictions inside and outside of Texas on a broad range of issues. He has seen particular success in coverage matters related to personal and advertising injury claims from trademark infringement, copyright, and trade secret theft. Daniel also applies his skills to delivering high quality analysis of coverage and pre-litigation issues to clients in order to aid in their consideration of difficult questions.
Daniel has also represented clients in numerous third-party actions, including premises liability, construction defect, personal injury, and DTPA claims. Daniel dedicates keen focus and energy to creating a winning strategy unique to each case, and works closely with clients to reach a favorable outcome.
Outside of work, Daniel is an avid fan of Baylor University sports and a proud alumnus of the school. He has been twice elected to the Baylor Line Foundation’s Board of Directors and has served as a member of the Board’s Executive Committee. The Baylor Line Foundation is the oldest alumni group in the State of Texas, and it exists to provide independent guidance to the University and valuable scholarships to the University’s future alumni.
